I still have alot to learn...
I'd like to use the pack n play for our baby to sleep in our room during the first few months. Does baby sleep in the napper or in the full base of the play yard during that time? I see they all come with a changer, but not all with a napper. Is the napper worth it? In what instances do you use that?
ETA - And if the pack n play comes with a bassinet thingy that you can remove, that doesn't take the place of a bouncer does it? Some of the pack n plays seem to say they vibrate or come out for individual use..?
Re: sorry - another pack n play question
This was so helpful. Thank you! I was totally confused by all the "compartments" for baby! OK, sounds like a bassinett is all I need. I was getting confused by the napper - and didn't feel like I needed it at all for the actual PNP but wasn't sure if it came out and did something else special that was worthwhile. Thanks!
The most basic PnPs don't necessarily come with the bassinet (the raised portion). So yes, if the PnP says bassinet, then it comes with the raised part.
As for the newborn napper, as PP said, it's for supervised naps only. We have a PnP that has bassinet, newborn napper, and changing station. I must say that I LOVED the newborn napper! DS napped in it for his first 3 months until he outgrew it. I was so sad when he did... he napped so well in the napper. Because of its shape, it's very cozy and snugly, and that's what newborns love. DS would nap for 3 hours easily in the napper. [Our pnp was in our living room so that's where he napped during the day.]
The changing table, OTOH, was rather useless. It doesn't have enough support so it tilts once DS was around 10 or 12 lbs, so DS was sliding off. We still used it but only after DS built a wooden board to put it underneath the table for more support.
