11 month old waking at Midnight--Help (also on June '12)

So DS has always been a good sleeper. Unless he was sick, he would only ever wake up once during the night and has STTN since he was 10 weeks old.

Well lately he has been waking up around 11:30 or Midnight screaming (and it is the screaming that says I am not going to self soothe myself back to sleep). Usually it is enough for us to go in and give him his nuk, but on Saturday night hew was inconsolable. Every time I put him down he would cry bloody murder. I finally had DH go in with him cause I had to use the bathroom and when I went in to check it was almost like DS was still crying in his sleep. It took DH 15 minutes to get him back to sleep (that is a really long time for us).

Once we do this he will usually sleep the rest of the night, but why is this happening now?

Anyone else going through this?

  • I think there will always be random disruptions to a good sleep pattern.  Could be teething, could be gas, could be a growth spurt, who knows.  When this happens with us, it usually always works itself out.

  • You said you're LO was recently sick? Could it be an ear infection?  My LO gets them (has had 5) after she's had a cold.  She's currently has one right now and has been getting up at 130am like clock work screaming, too.  We give Tylenol and put her back down.
