38 weeks lost mucus plug and leaking?

Hello Ladies,

  So I am 38 weeks 2days, I passed my mucus plug about 4 days ago and am now leaking.  I went to the Dr 3 days ago and it was not amniotic fluid, but today it has gotten much worse. I was wondering if this occurred with anyone and if it means that labor is much closer?  Also eveytime I turned over in bed last night I would have a BH contraction.  Sometimes it will last minutes...?  Any thoughts?  This is my second and I am WAY more uncomfortable ready to get this baby out!

If you are leaking amniotic fluid you need to call your doctor.

If you think you are leaking amniotic fluid you need to go to your doctor and get checked as it can cause infection if you wait too long.

Losing your mucous plug on it's own isn't a real indicator of when labor will start.

well when I went in a couple days ago it was not AF it was just discharge she said...I have a dr. appt tmrw.  It is not a constant flow, it just happens sometimes when I stand up or shift positions.  But I am still working so its uncorfortable leaking that much...

If your appointment is tomorrow you can wait. Leaking fluid is not an issue for infection unless you are having sex or getting vaginal exams. I'd hold off on any of that until the fluid can be tested, and even if it's leaking, your body will continue to make fluid and risk of infection is VERY low if you do not get vaginal exams or put anything up there.  Sometimes there can be a leak in the forebag and the actual bag is still intact.

If it's just when you shift positions or stand up it is most likely discharge. I would mention it to your doctor tomorrow.

Are you leaking or are you just enjoying the hard-core vaginal discharge of late pregnancy?

I have no idea, I have a feeling its just late pregnancy discharge. I dont htink it is too different from what it was last week? I more or less curious if this is an indicator of the onset of labor...

If it is amniotic fluid, then yes it is. If it is just discharge, nope. Most OBs want to deliver within 24 hours of your water breaking (including leaking), so I would still give them a call even if you have an appointment tomorrow.

I would say since you think you're leaking amniotic fluid, CALL THE DOCTOR. Mucus plug, 'eh...but fluid def call.

Mucous plug...not a big deal. It can regenerate several times. Increased vaginal discharge doesn't really mean anything either. You're close, but could potentially have three to four more weeks.
