Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

s/o climbing

My DS wants to do nothing more than climb onto the kitchen table. He just got tall and strong enough to get onto the chairs and will not stop! Our table is in the middle of the house, so closing off the room isn't feasible.

My mom says she tied the kitchen chairs together under the table so my brother couldn't pull them out, but that seems like an awful lot of work, especially since DD sits at the table to do crafts, puzzles and other things she doesn't want DS to get into.

Any ideas?

Can he pull the chairs out by himself? Dd has been able to climb onto the tables for at least 6 months, but she still can't pull the chairs out. So, we are just super careful about pushing them in. Our dining room table also can't be blocked off, so we just keep it mostly clear and redirect .

Sometimes he pulls the chair out, sometimes he tries to climb onto it while it's still pushed in and gets really ticked when he can't sit up! Ugh, it's so irritating.

I should work harder at keeping the table clear, too. He broke a glass and a plate in the same day last week. Dangerous!
