The cost of blood tests

So I got my day 3 blood work done and initial blood work done. I've never seen such a huge lab bill before. It's crazy. Luckily we have insurance or it would have been 8 times more. Seriously I was surprised. Thank goodness for DH bonus check coming in at the right time. I knew treatment could be didn't know the blood work would be that bad.

I think mine was about $1,150. Of course after the "negotiated rate" It was only $200, but I think even $200 is steep for blood tests! Luckily my b/w has been covered so far. We have a $2,000 lifetime max for IF and no coverage for IUI or IVF, so basically not much except bloodwork and a few u/s. It's crazy we have to spend so much for something everyone else gets for free...

I know I'm not even pregnant and it has cost me way more then when I got pregnant and gave birth with DS. He only cost me 3 copays so around 100.

Mine was outrageous too and I was really surprised. Our insurance coverage is so great with everything EXCEPT infertility. I even have acupuncture covered - wth! But we had to pay out of pocket for all of the testing because it had to be labeled "infertility." I think we've paid close to $3000 for the year of tests and doctor's visits. It stinks.

I am also thankful that DH's bonus just came in... right in time for our first IUI cycle in June.
