They do sign language at daycare (K goes 3days/week). So she's seen it since she was 3 months and I would say started doing some around 6-7months. She was doing one this weekend that I don't know (but it was a very deliberate, repeating gesture). We don't practice or anything, it's just something she picked up.
She does hungry, mom, dad, brother, more, and maybe a few others I can't recall right now.
Yes we do. She signs up, dog (occasionallyz) & I think eat & more. I really do think baby signs are the reason ds has been advanced with his language development.

I was completely on board with teaching LO sign language. I started signing to him when he was just a few months old. He is now going on eleven months and doesn't sign one thing. I know he understands a few, like milk, but he has never shown any interest in signing to me. I don't get it. I totally thought it would be great, but so far its been a total flop.

they actually say that if you start early be patient. Most babies will start signing back between 9-12 months. I understand how you feel as I felt the same way w ds. I was just about to give up to when he started doing them back. . Plus you might be surprised to see that your LO has made some up on their own.

DS has been the same. They do say that boys are a little slower to pick up, though.
DS has never used any of the signs that I show him, but one day I was holding his snack and he was coming to me to get pieces in between playing. One day he had his hand out for a snack, then brought his open palm to his mouth repeatedly. So it wasn't exactly the "eat" sign but it was a gesture. I recognized it and showed enthusiasm but nothing since.
We're still doing it, I'll be excited when he starts signing, but I just kind of let go of any expectation of when he'll sign back.
I want to say DS didn't actually start signing back until he was about a year old. His signing really took off when DD was born (he was 18 months). I purchased the Baby Signing Time videos from babysteals.com and he still loves to watch them. He asks to watch them fairly regularly. Now at almost 2.5 he knows around 50-75 signs.

Yes, DS mostly just signs more and milk (but he uses this for any food that he sees). I think he is going to start using more soon. He just started shaking his head yes finally. He has always loved to shake his head no and started that before he knew what it meant. Someone asked him if he wanted a cookie and he finally shook it yes a couple days ago. So funny!
I also thought it was interesting how many signs my 4 year old started doing and remembered when I started it with Owen. Very cool.
