Cribs

LO's crib has slatted sides.  Sometimes she wiggles around a lot in her sleep and gets an arm through the slats.  I swaddle her with her arms out as directed by the nurses at the hospital.  It bothers me somewhat when I see her little arm sticking out of her crib.  I know a ton of cribs are made this way and I probably shouldn't worry.  She has a mini crib and finding a bumper for it has been difficult.  I'm not sure I want a bumper in there anyway as I am super paranoid about SIDS.  Any thoughts?   TIA

Re: Cribs

  • You could try a breathable bumper if you're comfortable with that.  I'm actually surprised she gets herself close enough to the slats (but I haven't seen a minicrib- maybe it's smaller than I'm imagining)

  • We used a breathable bumper for DSit's made of mesh do doesn't restrict airflow, and can't suffocate a LO. We were very happy with it and plan to use it for LO

  • my LO did this at first too but after about a week she stopped.  Bumpers AND breathable bumpers both pose SIDS risks that just weren't worth it to me.  LO won't break and arm or leg in the crib slats.  They need the air movement so the carbon dioxide doesn't build up.  You LO will be okay. :)
