Low amnio fluid?..

Hi ladies, I don't usually post on here much but I do always try to read everyone's posts. I'm not sure if this has been a topic in the past, but at my 36 week appt I was told I had low amnio fluid and baby was only at a 2025 percentile for growth. My question is has anyone else experienced this? especially STM? And were they induced early and was LO ok. I was told all of this on Friday and have been going crazy thinking about all the what ifs. My doctor told me just to drink plenty of water and rest but I won't get many answers until Tuesday that I go in for another ultrasound and an NST. Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ladies:

Re: Low amnio fluid?..

  • Did your Dr give you a number? I've had low fluid since about 31 weeks. I have to go in twice a week for ultrasounds and  NST. My fluid fluctuates between 5.4 to around 7.5. If i get under 5 I will be in hospital until 37 weeks (which i am today) then I will deliver. My baby is breech due to low fluid, he didn't have enough to turn. I go in tomorrow, dr said be prepared to have a cscetion. On friday my fluid was at 6.5 with 2 pockets. If I'm down to one pocket he is taking baby tomorrow. according to my dr most patients with low fluid don't go far past 37 weeks before being induced. They don't like fluid to get below 5. HTH a little! good luck

  • I was 36w0d with DD getting an U/S to check her position and AF levels. I was 0.1 cubic centimeters away from being rushed to the hospital for an emergency CS. (DD was frank breech so an external version and induction was not an option)

The latest my OB let me carry the pregnancy was 38w5d, and since I did not feel like DD was in any real danger it was the day we chose. However I was required to have weekly U/S and semi-weekly NST's on top of my weekly OB appts until she was born via scheduled CS. Had DD miraculously flipped, I would have been able to opt for an induction but 38w5d was still to be D-Day.

I'm sorry I could not be more helpful towards the percentiles and growth.

"What are you having?" "Well the radiologist says its a healthy little human baby. I'm a little disappointed, because I really wanted a puppy." LOL

I was induced with DD at 37w2d with an amino level of 4, they think due to the velementous cord insertion. Everything went fine with the induction, vaginal birth and she was 7lb 1oz!

  • I had a low fluid level with DD and had weekly ultrasounds and NST tests fr 34 weeks one. They were going to induce me at 39 weeks because she wasn't growing like they wanted and my fluid level kept going down. She ended up coming on her own at 38 weeks 4 days and weighed 7lbs 4oz which was about a pound and a half more then they thought she weighed

  • I had low fluid with DD, but was induced at 40w1d for other reasons.  She is wonderful and healthy :)  I can't tell you at what point it got low, though.  Somewhere between 36w and 40w.

  • Thank you ladies for your responses. I feel a little better knowing everyone's LO have been healthy even tho they had low fluid. My fluid was a 6 and after IV fluids it went up to an 8. I'm just hoping to keep her in there as long as possible being that they're estimating her weight at only 5lbs. Thanks again ladies!
