ob/gyn check-up?

So after a few delays, DH and I are finally ready to start TTC in July! We're so excited :) I just have a question about my dr. visit....

I'm due for my normal yearly check-up in a few weeks. I don't currently have a OB/GYN because my regular 'Family Practice' doctor does my pap smear. So my question is, should I schedule an appt. now with the dr. I want to have when I do get preggers for a check-up before TTC, or is my regular check-up enough - and just wait till after a BFP to contact the OB/GYN dr?

Re: ob/gyn check-up?

  • Your regular is fine for now, especially if no known fertility issues, then just contact an OB when you get your BFP! They usually ant to see you at 6-8 weeks pregnant anyways. Good luck to you both :)

  • There is no need for a check up with an OB/GYN.  I just mentioned that we were planning on trying soon at my yearly check up and the only thing he said to me was to start taking PNVs.

    PAIF/SAIF Welcome!

  • Ask your family doctor if he/she handles prenatal care and/or delivery. My family doctor can do prenatal care but is referring me to another doctor by 34 weeks.
"What are you having?" "Well the radiologist says its a healthy little human baby. I'm a little disappointed, because I really wanted a puppy." LOL
  • You're regular is fine.

Thanks everyone! My mom is an RN in OB and she works with the OB/GYN I plan on going with so I know from her that I'll be happy with him. So I think I'll just do the regular check-up, and then wait for my BFP :)
