Mother's Day

Mother's Day is my least favorite holiday ever. 

My mom is fine most of the time, but she has this intense rivalry (in her own head) with my stepmom. I love my stepmom and she has really been my "true" mom most of my life. So I just feel trapped, like it will hurt my moms feelings if I honor my stepmom at all. 

And as a stepmom, its such an awkward holiday as well. Its a careful balancing act between "you're not my real mom" and "thanks for being motherly to me". Its just awkward. 

That's my vent.

    We need a step parent holiday in my opinion. Our own special day that says thank you for choosing to love and parent another person's child...not because you have to but because you choose to out of love.
