LO is almost 7 weeks and we have no real daily routine tho we have started a bedtime one. I am demand feeding and her naps are pretty erratic. I'm wondering if she really needs a better routine. Her sleep is pretty awful. Naps usually barely last an hour, if I'm lucky, sometimes 30 min. Her nighttime sleep is still barely 2 hours at a time. Just desperately waiting for her sleep to get better!! Anyone have similar issues? Or go thru this?
Re: XP: routine?
My little one is now almost 10 weeks but even at 7 weeks that sounds about my day, feed on demand (around every3 hours) nap here and there. Now at night he goes down around 830 and stays there until about 530 with no wake ups. At 7 weeks he would do a 6 hour stint, waking to feed and then back down.
I am not sure if the routine helped but it was helpful for us. Do you BF or FF? How much does LO eat and how much does LO weight?
My LO is 7 weeks as well and we started a routine around 5-6 weeks. I mainly just let her set her own schedule, but tried to stick with that one everyday. It took about a week to a week and a half but she is finally on the same eating schedule. I also follow an eat, play, sleep routine which helps my LO understand what comes next. It also makes naps a lot longer. She is napping 1-2 hrs at a time (varying by the time of day). She eats at 10pm and sleeps until 4:30 then not again until 7:30 which is when we all get up to start our day.
I definitely recommend a routine. It worked for me, but I am a very routine/schedules, type A personality so I just worked hard for a week or so to maintain the routine.
During the day is a different story. She nurses every hour usually and takes cat naps in my arms. If I try to put her down, she usually wakes 5 min later. I do get a 2 hour nap at some point during the day, but I never know when that's going to be.
My older girls fell into their own routine around 4 months, so hopefully DD3 will do the same.
