moving baby into own room

he is only a month old so he is beside my bed in the bassinet. I am NOT sleeping very much since i hear every sound he makes and wonder constantly if he is ok. I dont know if i want him to be in his own room but thinking i may sleep a little better? Any thoughts? This lack of sleep is REALLY getting to me and making me feel sick

I have custody of my niece who is three months and and I have a eight month old.  They are going to be sharing a room.  Mallorie is sleeping great now, and we are moving her into the nursery tonight.  Out of five they are the only two who room share.

  • Our DS moved in the first couple weeks for that reason. I am pretty impressed with everything the monitor picks up. Although sometimes I think the monitor is louder than it would be if he was there. ;)

  • We moved dd1 into the nursery after 2 nights for this reason!  Get a video monitor if it makes you feel better, but both she and mh & I all slept way better once she moved. We are still sleeping with dd2 in our room right now but only because her room isn't available yet. But you can bet we are moving her as soon as we can!

  • We made the move two days ago, just before 8 weeks. We moved DD2 at 6 weeks. We made the transition with our first at 6 months. All three have moved for nighttime sleeping without a fuss. Naps are a different story for DS, but we all sleep better now.

  • I feel ya!  Went through the same thing with my first born (lived in a studio at the time, there was no option to put him a separate room. I was basically a zombie for a few months.) BUT I preferred and still do prefer to have BF kids in the same room with me for my sanity and so that I don't have to go stumbling off to another room of the house to feed, change, comfort, etc. in the middle of the night.  For the recent birth of my twins, we "splurged" on one of those white noise makers.  The thing is beautiful!  It helps EVERYONE sleep, because it cancels out their little tiny noises that prevent me from falling asleep and any random noises from us that might wake the babies prematurely. It's been worth every penny so far.
