Cloth Diapering

People with cotton/WAHM diaper experience

Ok, so I found a diaper that I LOVE!!  BUT, it turns out it has pul with a cotton material over it (which is why I have not seen this pattern before).  So I am curious if anyone has experience with these types of diapers.  The diaper looks similar to this:

Super cute but I am concerned how the cotton print will hold up through the washes.....no to mention it is 24.00 per diaper.  As in will it look worn quickly?  Thanks!!

  • Two of my etsy diaps are cotton outer with a hidden layer of pul.  I haven't had them long, maybe a month or so?  But so far they are holding up wonderfully!  I love them.  They feel really nice.  The only downside is there is no way to inspect the pul.   But you would so rarely have any reason to, I don't think it's a big deal.

    hth!

How often does your lo wear these and how often do you wash them?

  • I got some from another seller. Sometimes they wicked if the insert got wet in just the right spot, and the cotton outer started fading really quickly for me (I used them maybe five times).

My washing machine also beats up clothes, so maybe other washers wouldn't have that experience. It wouldn't stop me from buying another with a cotton outer, but it definitely wouldn't make up my entire stash. The only reason I stopped using them at home was because the fit sucked, which was a bummer because they we adorable.

  • I wash every three days or so and he usually wears both diaps in that time period.

  • Lots of WAHMs make AIOs and AI2s in this fashion. The outer print fabric will wear more than if it was just a PUL fabric but it should hold up well enough that I don't think you'll be bummed by it or anything.

  • Like PPs my WAHM diapers with cotton outer wick pretty badly at the seams.  We just change them more frequently or don't put pants over them.  Not a huge deal.  So far mine have held up in the wash pretty well.  I have five of them.  The cotton has faded very slightly but not enough that I think anyone other than me would notice.  I have a large rotation so they get worn probably every fourth day.
