Monitoring for TTTS

Hi all,

I posted about a week and a half ago about following up with MFM following soft markers found on the a/s with my regular OB.

MFM states he is not worried about the soft markers because all my other testing has been normal. I appreciate the responses from that post.

However, baby B has a little less fluid around her than Baby A. They both measure on time for my due date. Baby A weighs 11oz and Baby B weighs 9oz. He said cord blood flow dopplers are normal for both babies. He states usually I would come every two weeks but wants to see me next week. If anything has changed with fluid or dopplers, we will be referred to another specialist in another city for treatment.

I was sort of stunned and thought about more questions after we left. I am trying to not worry and take it week by week. I do not want to read about TTTS possibilities on Google. Any input on what to do or handle this is greatly appreciated.

  • It's good that you're going back soon to get checked! Our fluid levels were off last Tuesday and we went back on Thursday and was at stage 2. However, we've been stable at stage 1 for a week.

There are a couple foundations for TTTS as well as Facebook groups... I can't find them now because I'm on my phone.

Hang in there... Will send prayers for you and those babies!

if you want to read something about ttts, i will refer you to my doctor's site www.lafetalsurgery.com

he did my surgery when we needed to be treated for ttts. the info is good, complete, but tells you both the good and the bad. it was a scary time, but everything worked out very well and i delivered my girls at 35w 6d. they needed a week of nicu time, but mostly as feeders and growers. their pedi is extremely pleased with them and says they are like regular newborns.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

  • Sorry to hear there's something more to worry about but it sounds like your MFM is on top of monitoring it.  There's a good possibility that whatever issues are going on could resolve or end up not causing major issues and IF things progress the wrong way, you are being watched closely so appropriate action can be taken quickly.  Sometimes it helps to write down questions before your appointment and don't let your doc leave until you feel satisfied with answers.  A good doc will spend the time to communicate with his/her patients.  Just sending hugs and good thoughts to you!
  • Super glad you have a doc that's totally on it and is taking good care of you. There's no way of knowing if the TTTS will progress, but do know that it's possible to over come it. We had to have surgery for it at 20 weeks, and both our girls are doing fine and still cooking away at 34 weeks now. All the best to you and your kids, keep us posted!
