Has anyone already given LO cows milk?

Just wondering... Pedi says its ok, but just checking if anyone has and how did it go?

DH and I are both lactose intolerant, so we're waiting until 12 months, maybe longer.

Not yet, pedi said at 9 month appointment that we could start a slow transition anytime, but I haven't yet. I just don't think he's ready just yet. He's really only just started eating table food, and that's not at every single meal either. He still gets some purees. Compared to others his age, I think he might be a little behind in the eating department, but I'm not worried. He will catch up!

Not yet, we will wait for 12 months and do a mix of BM and WCM to begin. DD had some cheese and was fine with it. Now we will try some yogurt.

DS is fine with yogourt and cheese but we're not planning on giving cow's milk at all. If you nurse twice a day you can easily supplement the calcium, fat, vitamins, etc through diet. If you nurse four times a day, you don't need to worry at all.

I have no desire to wean so it seems crazy to me to give LO milk from another animal when I am still able to and willing to give him my own.

I totally get that aspect of it. I hope I didn't sound judgey, I didn't mean to. I was just saying the option to not give cow's milk is there. So far, and even when I go back to work PT, I think it will work out fine for DS to drink water when I'm not around. That's what we've been trying out and it's been working out pretty well. DS still nurses all night so I'm not worried about it yet. Ha! At this point it feels like he'll never STTN!

Us too. I didn't think it was judgey. I am still debating how we are going to go about this topic.

I started giving it to DS at about 10.5 months. He loves it! He gets an ounce or two a day, with a meal.

He will refuse it if I give it to him straight out of the fridge, so I put it in the microwave for a few seconds (5-10) just to take the chill off.

this is me too...I don't want to have to pump..also seems like I can't keep up with DS as far as supply now..I have no more milk stored so I am looking at doing cows milk when I'm not around and continuing to nurse when I am...

Don't worry! I read something funny somewhere that puts it in perspective: He's not going to go on his first date and ask the waiter to run his meal through a blender first. They all learn to eat sometime!

I have when I ran out of formula (we lived far from a store). He was totally fine with it and we use it every now and again between formula runs. He is also good with Almond Milk. He's not picky though. We didn't transition him or anything just one day gave him a whole bottle of it and he was fine!

this is me too...I don't want to have to pump..also seems like I can't keep up with DS as far as supply now..I have no more milk stored so I am looking at doing cows milk when I'm not around and continuing to nurse when I am... 

My supply is fine, I think, but the only way I can pump a decent amount (between 2-3 oz) for the past few months is if I only feed DD from one side at night and then pump in the morning. It is getting old!

Our LOs are very similar!

DS looooves his milk.  I started giving him sips of his sister's once he went down to only nursing 3 or 4 times a day and now he gets his own cup of milk when he eats.

Ds2 Gets about 4 oz whole milk a day.More during the day when he is too busy to want to nurse. I worry my supply will start dwindling since I am KU. We will keep nursing as he wants but since right now its about 4 times a day I want to make sure he is getting enough and ready to switch over as my supplies  changes. he has been fine with it.

Yes, we have and DS loves it!! He usually gets it with his supper. We are looking forward to making the full transition here in a month or so.
