Camping

Is anyone planning on camping this summer?  Where will LO sleep?  Does your LO still wake up in middle of the night?  I would love to go camping, but LO still wakes 2-3x a night.  Do you think it's inconsiderate to bring him in case others hear him crying?  He only cries for a minute until I get him, but still.

Re: Camping

  • We have already been camping this year and plan on going at least once a month. If not twice a month.
We decided to get a pop up because we live in Nebraska and the weather is so unpredictable we wanted heat and or a/c. We brought the PNP and he did awesome. But he also doesn't wake up in the motn.

  • We've been RVing twice with DD and we just co-slept.  Sometimes she sleeps through the night but recently she's been waking up.  I wouldn't worry about other people hearing lo cry, especially if she stops really quickly.  DH is actually looking at a pop up this weekend so we don't have to continue borrowing my grandparents RV.  Where do you usually find room for the PNP?  I was just thinking of putting DH in one bed and co-sleeping with DD in the other.  We don't typically co-sleep though, usually DD sleeps in her crib in her room.  DD actually seems to wake up more when we co-sleep.

  • We camped last summer with Lucas who was 3 months and Nathan who was 21 months. Nathan went the year before too. We have an 1973 pop up camper, Lucas will sleep in the packnplay and Nathan and Danny will share the bed next to him.

Last year both boys still woke at night, it's not like it woke other people up.

We love camping!!! I can't imagine not going.

We put the pnp on the bed that is formed when you drop the dinette into a bed. Or we take the table out and put it there.

I would not buy a pop up they're a lot of work to pack. You have to set it up, pack things away close it up to travel Get there set up Unpack so you can use your stuff, pack to leave put it down and do it all again at home. We're looking at buying a hybrid so it's easier set up and still tons of space and air flow.

  • We plan to camp this summer. We had a 6 person tent for the space because we usually bring the dogs with us, but this year we sold it and bought a 10 person tent. I plan to bring DDs pack and play for her to sleep in.

We traded in our 19 ft trailer this year for a 26 ft.....I am sooooo excited.  It is our honeymoon since we never went on one.  :)  We went last year when DD was 6 wks old for 4 days and at 3 mos for 4 days.  She slept 10 hours at night.  We were told it was b/c of being outside etc.  It was awesome!  I say go and try it.  If he goes back to sleep after a minute don't worry about it.  I was so scared the first time and she did so awesome.  We are going this summer at least 2 times but I really want to go more now that we have the new one.  She slept in a mini pack n play last year.  we took the table out and it fit perfectly.  Or once we put the table down into a bed and put the pnp on one side and made a changing area on the other side.  This year we have bunkbeds on one side so I am thinking of using a toddler bedrail and letting have a bottom bunk.  I want to get a Summer Infant Secure Surround Play Safe Play Yard  or something like that to use camping now that she is mobile this year and to use outside at home too.

what is the age of your LO?

i think you should take some more time to go for a camp.

I'm curious about this too! I think if we went we would probably bring an air mattress and sleep all three of us in the tent like that. Jack wakes up once a night about half the time so it would be a gamble to see how he does. We might try it closer to the fall when he's a little older. I would LOVE a pop up but it's not in the budget at the moment :(

Good idea to bring mattress:) Anyway, where are you planning to go?

oh my gosh I love you! I never even thought to take the table out since we don't use ours as a bed so it never crossed my mind that we could. Last year he jut slept in a small bassinet by our bed but I was wondering where the heck we would fit his play pen this summer. Thanks!

It works awesome and we never used it before either so it isn't missed. Have fun this year!
