We had a terrible week and I can't wait for it to be over.
Alex had a 24 hour stomach bug with lots of diarrhea and puking in the beginning of the week and started to walk wobbly and fall down more, too. We got pretty concerned, because DH had a staph infection and that can go into your blood and joints/muscles, too. So I took him to the pedi and she sent us to get bloodwork and x-rays of the hips and knees done. Alex hates any doctor visits (even during well checks he just screams his head off) and you can imagine how hard and heart breaking all that was. Well, they didn't find anything, so we went on to a pediatric orthopedist the next day who found a compression fracture of the femur in his right leg. WTF? It must have happened when Alex fell down a step onto his knees on our concrete patio a couple of weeks ago. The smallest brace was too long, so we now have to keep him from climbing and running for two weeks and then go back for more x-rays to check if it's healed. My poor kid has a broken leg and I didn't even know about it for two weeks, talk about feeling guilty.
Then yesterday, we came back from our afternoon walk. I open the garage and see that the ceiling had come down. It missed our minivan by just a couple of inches and I cleaned it up during Alex's nap. Now we need to fix the attic this weekend.
Week from hell, I tell you. Let's hope the next one will be better!

Big hugs Ricola, that sounds like a very difficult week. Try not to beat yourself up too much over Alex, those types of fractures are so difficult to diagnose. Sending you and Alex lots of positive vibes for a speedy recovery!

~~PAIF/SAIF Always Welcome~~
Thanks for your nice words, friends.
Yesterday went a bit better. Enjoyed some happy hour on the driveway with some neighbors and then DH gave me a new camera as a surprise, which I really, really wanted. So yay! I hope that turned it around for me and we get to catch a break now. Alex is still limping a bit and always wants to run and climb, of course. I've never gone for as many walks as I do these days!
