Just wondering how DH proposed? Did he get all creative?
My husband is by no means creative like that guy in the video--but he did take me to a mountain top, and then proposed.
How did you get engaged?

DH proposed at his OSUT graduation. All of his family was there to see him graduate. I had seen him the day before, so I let his cousins and aunts give him hugs and waited to be last. He started pulling me aside and I heard his aunt start shouting at his cousin to give her the camera... He got down on one knee and pulled the ring box out of his pocket and asked me if I knew he loved me, and if I knew that he wanted to do that for the rest of his life. I said yes, he popped the question and here we are! Best part is when I called my mom and told her, her response was " I know". He had written my parents asking their permission, since he didn't have phone privileges.
Actually, this was just about 5 years ago today. He proposed on Military Spouse Appreciation Day.
*****Siggy Warning*****
We took a day trip to San Fran. We went to Golden Gate park so that we could take some pictures and view the sights. When we got to the bridge, he started emptying his pockets, handing me the stuff to put in my purse. I was getting aggravated because I had asked him before we left the car if he wanted to put anything in my bag and he had said no. Then he handed me to ring box and said "Marry me?" LOL So romantic and unromantic at the same time
A really nice German tourist took this for us, after he saw us trying to do it ourselves to document the occasion.
It's an adorable novel.
He got the recipe from the local bar and made this huge speech in front of everyone about how grateful he was for that blue drink. He pulled out a blue tacori box and got on one knee.
The best part is it is taped and I can watch it forever. My grandmothers' reactions are priceless because nobody knew except my mom and dad.
The day he proposed I had been preparing for a get together we were hosting at the house. I had been cooking and cleaning all day. When he got home I had just stepped out of the shower and I was in my robe. He comes waltzing in with flowers. He goes to the sink to put them in a vase and water. I told him they need to be trimmed a bit before they go into the vase. He asks me to do it. I go to the sink, trim them up and put them back into the vase. I turn around and he is on his knee. I was totally surprised which was the best part. We had been together a little over 8 years, so I was hoping it would come soon, so I was happy that I was surprised. It was nice to have friends over that evening to celebrate!
**The center stone of my engagement ring was my great-grandma's. I LOVE family heirlooms and it is so special to me that he incorporated it.

I was watching Grey's Anatomy last night and was gushing and wished my proposal had been so creative and romantic!

Every time I show dh a romantic proposal story, he feels bad because my proposal was just not at all romantic. We went into New York for our anniversary, went ice skating at Bryant Park, had a nice dinner and took a carriage ride in the park after (all PERFECT moments to propose!). We left the city, drove home and I washed my face, got my pj's on and got into bed and I think he could tell I was kinda like "wtf!?" and he comes over to the side of the bed and asks me in our awful apartment!

When we decided to move in together we went to my moms to get all of my left over stuff out of my room from when I moved out a few years prior. We were in my bedroom, he all of a sudden got down on one knee, and went on to tell me how much he loved me and wanted to spend his life with me...then he pulled out the ring and proposed.
Nothing special but I loved it.
My proposal was actually a disaster. DH had this whole thing planned, surprise when I got home from work. But then the night before I had to put my dog down and it was a gruesome, horrific, awful awful awful night. I stayed home from work the next day crying. When DH got home he comforted me, got down on one knee and proposed. I don't know how I could have survived that night without him though so in that sense, it was good timing in that he'd just proven he would be there for me through all of it, the good and the truly awful.
He told me later that he considered asking me on the plane that morning but changed his mind at the last minute. I'm so glad that he did becaue I'm terribly shy and wouldn't have loved that as much.
Mine proposed in the game we play, on a random Friday night. His little character comes strolling up to me wearing a tux, kneels down, and trades an item - a "red ribbon wrapped gift"
I sent him a message all "WTF are you doing, folks are waiting on us" (basically b!tching at him to hurry up), when I unwrapped the "gift" to uncover an item called "Flawless Elegant Solitaire" that has flavor text that states: Will you marry me?
I was dumbfounded at first. Then he appeared behind me with an actual ring, actually knelt, and actually asked... and I proceeded to tell my internet friends what just happened, THEN ran away from my computer to call my family and friends.

DH is not romantic and cannot plan or keep a surprise to save his life. Two days before, I knew where and when, but I kept my mouth shut because he really wanted it to be a surprise.
Walking across the lake at sunset, he dropped to one knee and even though I knew it was coming, I was still surprised because the ring was bigger than I thought it would be. I kept my mouth shut the whole time he said sweet things, but as soon as he asked the question I shouted out, "Yes! I love it. I mean you. I love you. And the ring. I love you both." He still teases me about it.

LOL. Isn't it fantastic when they have perfect moments & pass them up for super lame. We had just been in Philly the week before ours & there was a perfect moment at the museum but noooo. Silly guys.
We were eating dinner on a random Tuesday night and I noticed a big box wrapped in red paper in the corner of the room. I asked what it was and he said why don't you go check it out. I opened it, and buried in packing peanuts was a smaller box, and inside that another box, and finally my ring box. When I opened it, he said "You are my best friend, and we belong together, what do you say"? I actually don't think he ever said the words will you marry me, lol.
We had talked a lot about it beforehand, so I knew it was coming soon but he totally surprised me and caught me off guard. I also loved the box within a box thing.

This is actually my favorite proposal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_v7QrIW0zY but its not as sappy as the one you shared! (I seriously need more creative friends! haha)
As romantic and amazing as my husband can be his proposal was none of that (although it was special). He was graduating college and we took a trip to the Bahamas for a vacation the week before he graduated. I was kind of expecting a proposal (dated 5 years at that point and we had went ring shopping in January). We woke up on our first morning there and were laying in bed. I asked him if he wanted to go get breakfast. "no". Do you want to go sit on the balcony and read? "no." Everything i suggested he just kept turning down. So I turn over and am watching the ocean and he gets up and grabs something out of his bag and comes back to bed and hides it under his pillow. [I usually leave this part out of the story but I put my hand under the pillow because I honestly thought it was a condom lol and then quickly pulled back once I felt a box] and then he said "You know how we always ask each other really thought provoking life questions? Well will you marry me?" and I of course said yes.
I honestly was a little disappointed that he didn't get down on one knee and of all the beautiful places he could have proposed he picked our room...in his underwear. I remeber thinking how awkward it was going to be to explain to our families. Oh well. He's made up for it since then. I think he just panics in times of great pressure.
Yes, this almost drove me insane! I was in a friend's wedding in Paris the same week as our 1 year anniversary (the month before he proposed) and because of work, he didn't go! I was totally picturing a proposal at the Arc, Tower, or some other fabulous Parisian locale. Nope.

I love reading everyone's stories! Makes one feel all giddy again.
It does! Thank you for starting this thread!
We all need to be reminded of the awesomeness we have now. With our husbands.
My dad came out to visit us on his birthday, We had a little get together planned, my dad and I spent all day making from scratch spaghetti and I made a cake. We had invited DH's mom and grandparents over too.
After dinner DH's grandparents were getting ready to leave and DH asked me to walk them to the door with him.... odd because our dining room table is literally inches from our door. As soon as I stood up he said he wanted to ask me something and he wanted everyone to be here when he did. As soon as he got on his knee I started balling lol.... I didn't even really say yes cause I was crying so much then after he had put the ring on my hand and stood up his grandma said wait a minute she didn't say yes yet you better get back on your knees.
Apparently DH had called and asked my dad's permission the week before and that means a whole lot to me, and I was super surprised my dad could keep the secret he usually tells me everything.

H proposed in a fortune cookie- it said, "You will receive a proposal soon." And I went, "Oh ha! That's funny." and went on eating the cookie, thinking nothing of it. I had no clue because the fortune looked real- even with the Chinese word on the back. He steamed the cookie open and put the fortune in it himself. He proposed later that evening and thought I was onto him. Nope. 100% oblivious.
Can I just say that I love your siggy. I can never measure pasta right and I always make wayyy to many noodles. Same goes for rice lol
