Sleep problems?

So it seems my DD is sleeping better overall at night in her crib but lately (the last week) when she does wake up in the middle of the night, or even first thing in the morning (whether in her crib or in bed with us) she is waking up very upset, almost like she has had a bad dream.  She sleeps ok and wakes well throughout the day from her naps, but at night and in the morning it is almost like she wakes up startled and scared.  Could this be some sort of nightmare or sleep terrors, or just normal for sleeping on her own?  I'm not too concerned yet, but wanted some feedback from this wonderful group of women.

Re: Sleep problems?

  • Not sure, but try putting a night light in there if you don't already have one. It could be that she is okay during the day because there is more light when she awakes. A nightlight or light from the hall outside of her room might help her acclimate better when she wakes at night.

  • I think they're just mad because they woke up and they're still tired.  It will get better when sleep cycles get longer and they can put themselves back to sleep easier.
