We are having his 1st birthday at a swim school, he loves to swim and I wasn't sure about what food to get for the other kids in his daycare who are coming. He goes to a center and we invited the other 5 infants in his class. They are all about to turn 1.
The swim school gives discounts for pizza. I was thinking about getting pizza for the adults as well as some fruit and veggie trays. Should I get something else for the other infants who are coming? My lo loves pizza or would eat fruit or veggies.
I thought about maybe bringing some baby food to sit aside or some of the baby snacks. I don't want to be rude and not have something for the kids, but i'm just not sure what to get. They party is from 2-4 and I know I have seen the other parents bring fruit/veggies for there kids during the day.
Thanks!
Re: 1st Birthday Food Question
I think pizza would be fine and maybe some gold fish crackers. You could also make small turkey/cheese sandwiches and cut them out with a cookie cutter.
i wouldn't baby food ... People are picky with brands, etc and if that's what their kid still eats at 1 I would assume they'd bring it.
I think 1 is a hard age with food, because kids are all over the map with what they're eating (solids/purees/food strikes).
For my son's first birthday I really planned food for the adults, with "kid friendly" options (like pasta salad and fruit salad). I think having pizza, fruit, and veggies is fine - and you can always add a kid friendly snack if you want - like pps mentioned. As far as baby food/baby snacks, I'd bet that most of the kid's moms will bring their own with them.
My DD was very picky at that age so I'll tell you what she would have eaten. Any type of fruit (halved grapes, strawberries), those little Gerber 'puffs', and well pretty much anything else I had to force feed her! So you may want to get some fruit and generic puffs so that everyone is pleased.
If you really want to have some sort of baby food, you could do applesauce pouces - that's pretty straightforward.
At DS's party, I had fruit and veggies, goldfish-type crackers, crackers, cheese...I think that's it.
