Actually, the only Bennett I know is a girl (early 30's) so I always associated that name as being feminine. I like her and the name on her. As far as I know, she likes her name as well. She also goes by "Bennie," which I love.
On a side note, I also know a woman named Bill -- in her mid-fifties. That was a tough one for me to swallow, but she owns it!
I am happy to see everyone's response since my DS is named Bennett. After I had DS a friend of a friend named their daughter Bennett....so it does happen. I will never understand the naming a girl a boys name trend.

I only know of one child named Bennett, and it's a girl, actually. I'm not a fan of it. I have always seen Bennett as a last name. I absolutely love Kate.

Re: Bennett Kate
I love Kate. Gorgeous.
Bennett on a boy is good.
And I like some masculine names on girls but not Bennett. Sorry.

This. Why OP?

Agree with everyone that it's a boy name, NOT a girl. And this would be my main argument... The nickname Ben for a girl is bad, bad, bad.
If you must how about Kate Bennett?

WTF.
MUD?
This sounds like a full name with the last name listed first.
I like Kate, but really dislike Bennett.

I personally wouldn't use Bennett for a girl name.
But, then again, I'm not a fan of any name that can be unisex, really.
Bennett screams "boy" to me.
Oh thank god.
Your friend has bad taste in names.
