Re: SSA 2012 Baby Names

  • Thanks for posting Shannon! Vivian has been slowing climbing in recent years. I'm going to blame Tom and Gisele. Even if there kid is only 6 months or something like that.

    Which I think is a huge jump for a name in almost the 700's

  • Nora is number 102, which is kind of surprising.  I figured it would be higher, but I'm perfectly okay with her not being 1 out of 6 girls in her class with the same age like her sister.

    Ugh I'm so not looking forward to naming this baby. Nothing is really jumping out at me and it was so painful last time finding a name we agreed on.

    This was us, too. We had a list of 5-7 names when we had L, and even more when we had H. It was tough trying to agree on one name we both liked... I mean.. we didn't name H until the next day! You will be able to come up with something :-)

  • DD's name is in the Top 10. I knew it was popular when I picked it, but love her name. I still don't know anyone personally with her name.

    It bugs me that we get comments that Tristan is a girl name even though it's 89 on the boy list and not even in the top 1000 for girls. It doesn't take much to "ruin" good boy names I guess.

    I don't get why anyone would think Tristan's a girl's name. That'd be like naming your daughter Romeo.

    LBB's name only went up 5. I was expecting a bigger jump.

    Don't feel bad. We were Team Green and walked into the hospital with 19 names. We couldn't even compromise enough to combine our individual lists into one. So he walked in with four boy names and five girl names. I walked in with five girl and five boy. Haha!

    T's name went down slightly but really hasn't moved much in years.nbsp; Elsa, I'm still keeping G's name on our list for any future girls.nbsp; I do love that name and while I wouldn't change T's name for the world, it didn't beat G by much.nbsp;

    T is Tilly right? I cannot see siggies so I cannot remember.

    Everyone said Gator's name sounded "harsh". I was thinking, dude she is only going to be a cutesy little baby/toddler for a few years....sorry I don't want a babyish sounding name after my kid turns 3.

    That's Overture I believe.  My T is Tessa.  Smile

    Those people are crazy, I don't think it's harsh at all!  I think it fits a cute little girl perfectly, but also grows well into adulthood.

    Oh okay! I remembered there was a Matilda on here and the name Matilda was SO's 2nd choice for a girl. But my sister was pushing for us to use Tessa as a middle name! However it sounds weird to me with both the first and middle name ending in "a", so she ended up a Greta Vivian

    Same. I still feel like it's a classic that will age well.
