Ok so you know how when you are a FTM and you do a baby registry, you register for so much stuff you end up not ever using or needing??
Well I don't want that to happen to me with starting out with CD.
It's so overwhelming on what brand to choose, supplies, how many inserts, etc.
I have decided on the Bum Genius 4.0 brand so I'm not stressed about that anymore. Other than the diapers of course, what do I actually NEED??!!
Your help is greatly appreciated!
My DD I am going to start CDing is 9 months old.
Re: New to CD
In addition to your diapers you are going to need a large hanging wetbag or pail and pail liner to store your diapers till wash day (2 of each), 1-2 smaller wetbags for your diaper bag when you do changes out of the house, cloth wipes if you're going to use them, detergent, cloth diaper friendly rash cream (GroVia Magic Stick is awesome), that's really all I can think of.
I love BG 4.0's, but you should maybe look into either a diaper trial, or buy a couple of a few different brands/types to try out. BG's may not work out for your LO, and they will not work for you during the NB phase.

1. A place for dirties at home. Some people like wet bags and some like a pail with a liner. You want two so one can be in use while the other is in the wash.
2. Method for poop removal. Options are sprayer, spatula, or dunk & swish.
3. Wipes. Either disposable or cloth wipes plus a method to get cloth wipes wet. Some people use a spray bottle, peri bottle, tupperware, the sink, wipe warmer, etc.
4. A place for dirties on the go. Smaller wet bag is usually used.
5. Detergent
6. Drying method. Dryer, drying rack, clothes line, etc.
I would also suggest you try some other brands in addition to BG. Rumparooz, Fuzzibunz, and Blueberry are also some popular pocket diapers.
As far as more inserts than what are included with the diapers you can cross that bridge when you get there. Maybe you'll need more absorbency, maybe not.
