First Bike recommendation

My DS will be 2 soon and I am looking to get him a first bike for a b-day gift. I have seen all types of fancy looking bikes/trikes out there. Not sure what would be the best to start him on for this age.

Balance bike!  We have a strider and it's been a HUGE hit.  Eleanor just turned 2 and hasn't really "gotten" it yet but Callum loved it as soon as we got it when he was 2.5.

I have heard of those. Do you know the average pricing for them or best places to buy?

I literally just finished putting together a Chicco balance bike I bought for DS. I got it on Amazon for 50. I plan to buy him a regular bike for is 3rd bday in Aug and wanted something to get him started. He was excited he was going to get to ride it after his nap so we will see how it goes!

I just looked it up. It looks as though there is no pedals. Do you just push them on it??? ha ha am I asking a dumb question?

The idea as I understand it is to get them used to balancing a bike without worrying about pedals or brakes yet. DS just sat on the seat and walked the bike. He had mastered turning and picked up a little speed after 10 minutes or so. At some point I guess he will get brave enough to lift his feet as he goes faster. Just for fun I would tell him to lift his feet while I pushed him around faster so he could see how it felt. He enjoyed it but today he told me he wants a bike with pedals which made me laugh.
