Every night for at least two hours normally from 101 my little one cries, screams, kicks, etc. I bf but have been following with formula bcuz I don't think I'm producing enough milk to fill her up. She eats all the time. I burp her constantly, have tried gas drops, gripe water, bicycle kicks, swing, bouncy chair, music, low lights so its dark, rocking, singing, massage....nothing seems to work. Any ideas or suggestions?
Re: help needed
Could be a growth spurt. She is establishing your milk supply. Stop the formula because you are shooting yourself in the foot. The more she nurses, the more milk you will make. It's a demand and supply thing. Stick her on your boob and keep her there. Seriously. It sounds like cluster feeding. Let her do what she has to do. At this point, her only means of communication is crying. Your body will listen. Let it.
Eta: boobs are magic. They can calm her.
Try BF...likely a growth spurt and she needs more milk, more often. She will be fussy for a few days until your body registers her need for more milk (body learns this from her sucking even if no milk).
The formula is telling your body to make less milk. It's hard to see her hungry and upset but your body will quickly fix this if you let her go to breast. If you do decide to give some formula to fill her up you need to pump to make up for it so your body knows to make more at that time or you'll have to give formula to replace that feed forever!
I have a Daughter born 2/26/2013. She is pretty much amazing!
Haha, YES! Funny, but very true. If you are worried she's not getting enough, you could always call your ped and I'm sure they would let you come in for just a weight check. I agree with everyone else who said ditch the formula and let your body adjust. Hang in there, it does get easier!
