No more ballet for P

I'm not sure that I did the "right" thing by letting her "quit,"  but she hasn't gone in about 3 weeks.  The last 2 times before that were a struggle of tears and she spent 60% of the class in the bathroom.
She has to potty every 10-15 mins typically, and it's hard to get her out of all of that gear, and so she's missing a good portion of class anyways.

But, the worst part is that when I finally got her to tell me why she didn't want to go anymore, she tried to do her gallop with her right foot (which to say looks abnormal is being kind about it, I literally cried when I first saw her do it in class; she has learned how to ambulate very well given everything, and it generally looks quite typical, this DID NOT). And she said, "because I do it like this,"

Ouch.  =(

The last 2 times in the class she had almost flat out refused to do anything with her right leg, because it's more difficult for her and I guess she's getting old enough to know heyyy this is easy with my left and this is weird with my right. So the teacher would do it with her, to make her feel more comfortable.

Honestly, I'm glad to have the break of having to be one more place at a certain time, but i'm still kinda mad at myself for not thinking it would be difficult for her, and her putting her in the situation to start with.

    Don't beat yourself up.

    Your lil' Miss P is a bright girl. Unpleasant as some of this was, you both learned frrom it. Self knowledge is a powerful thing.

    At some point you may find some other activity- swimming is good, golf or tennis are life time sports. Music could translate to an instrument, voice or even theater.

    This. You both gave it a shot, it's not for her. Like auntie said, there are other activities. Have fun with finding what clicks for her.Smile
