Getting uncomfortable

I'm 29.5 weeks with b/g twins and every day gets a little more uncomfortable. I am so blessed in that the babes are healthy, growing on track and very active. I have only gained weight in my stomach and it truly is just babies, placenta and water. My blood sugar is great and my blood pressure is awesome. With that being said I am carrying at 36 weeks and am getting more uncomfortable daily. I cant sleep at night because my back hurts and breathing is becoming a struggle at times. I just put in my dates for maturnity leave, the end of my 34week however I can't imagine working that long I'm a nurse on my feet 12 hrs a day and that sounds exhausting.
When did most people stop working?

Re: Getting uncomfortable

  • I worked at my law firm up until I delivered at 35 weeks. But I was extremely uncomfortable towards the end. No problems at all, just discomfort. I could not have been on my feet for 12 hours a day at that point though, I'd try to stop working as soon as possible if you can. Your body needs to rest.

  • I can't imagine being on my feet 12 hours day at this point so kuddos to you! I'm about two weeks ahead of you and feeling the same way. I haven't set an offical leave date in stone yet. My goal is to work until 34 weeks and then evaluate at that time.

  • I'm 35 weeks an still working. However, I have an office job and haven't commuted to the city since March.

28-29ish weeks were super hard for me sleeping and breathing. The babies both started to drop right around 30 weeks and I've felt much, much better the last 2 - 3 weeks. Hopefully you'll feel better too!

  • I feel your growing pains! I just posted the other night about feeling very uncomfortable. I highly suggest doing some relaxing just for you like a prenatal massage, a manicure or a pedicure just taking a little me time has helped me overcome the daily thoughts I have about how much bigger I'm going to get!
  • I am a kindergarten teacher and worked up until 36 weeks and 4 days when my doctors office called me and told me to go to the hospital to have my babies, because my blood work had come back badly.
  • I work at a desk job. I had planned on working until 36w5d (just the way the weeks fell) when my C-section was scheduled for 38w. However, at 33 weeks my BP went up. OB waited a week to see if it was a fluke but it stayed high (though not pre-e) and she took me off work at 34w5d and pushed C-section up to 37weeks. I wanted to work longer so I would have more time after the babies are born, but as the days go on I am more uncomfortable and could not imagine going to work every day even with a desk job. Plus, I've outgrown most of my maternity clothes and the only shoes that fit are DH's sandals (just wide enough and too long but work better than flip flops) so I would have had to buy more clothes and shoes to wear to work.

I'm a band director, and am on my feet several hours a day as well. I was hoping to teach until 34 weeks, but my doctor took me out at 32 due to high blood pressure. I might have made it to my goal otherwise, but I was very uncomfortable and certainly wouldn't have made it past 34 weeks. Those last few weeks are rough! I delivered at 37 weeks and 2 days.
