Two Under 2

3 under 3 anyone? .... literally can't breathe

Just got a BFP while my 2 yr old and 7 month old DS's are taking naps. I don't even know how to process this as the transition to two was/is a challenge.

Can someone please lie to me and tell me I will live through three in diapers?

  • Deep breaths! Maybe #1 will be potty trained by the time #3 comes???  No personal experience but people say the transition from 1-2 is harder than 2-3.

I didn't quite have 3u3, ds # 1 was 3.5 when my dd was born, but I'll chime in.

You'll be fine. I had 3 in diapers for a little while (its really hard potty training thru transitions) and honestly, it was easier than having a lo needing to find a bathroom quickly.

I hope you find the positive in this soon, having three really is awesome.

You are a woman! You can do it! ;)

Just think about how close your kids will be. They will always look out for one another and learn from each other.

    Congrats!

  • Mine won't be quite three under three. Ds #1 will be 3 1/2 and ds #2 will be 1 1/2 when baby is born in July. My ds #1 is not yet potty trained. We are very slowly working our way there. I'm more worried about the fact that they are now both climbers and can get just about anywhere they want to go, including through closed doors.

  • You're not crazy! I am in the same boat as the other posters. DS will be almost 3.5 when LO arrives and DD will not yet be around 21 months at the time. Having 3 in diapers would be the least of my concerns. Although we hope that DS will be finished being potty trained by then, you just never know and it's not something I really worry about it. We started DS out in pull-ups around 2/2.5 and I don't really feel like they are diapers necessarily since DS can pull them up and down himself. I also hear going to 3 is easier, but you really never know until you get there. Just take one day at a time!

I didn't have 3u3 (my first 2 are 15 months apart, second 2 are 2.5yrs apart so not even 2u2), my DS was 3 yrs 9 months when DD#2 was born and DD#1 was 2.5.  But I will chime in that it might be easier having the 3 in diapers than having newly potty trained kids.  It is almost more work - my DS has been trained for a while, but DD#1 trained a month after #3 was born (her choice not mine!).  Both kids need help in the bathroom, and need to go often when we are out of the house.  Trying to keep the 2 of them from touching everything in a public bathroom is quite a challenge - especially with a new baby!  Some days I miss the diapers, I will tell you Smile

Good luck, I know you can do it - it is hard with 3, but they all love each other!

  • OP: you will get through this. You will get through it the same way that millions of moms before you have gotten through it. You are not the first person to have 3 under 3, and you won't be the last. Those other moms don't have some magical formula that makes everything easy.....they just do it the same way you will....one day at a time. Think about moms of triplets....they get through it.

You're going to do just fine. You're not going to be perfect. You're going to make mistakes, but no mom is perfect.

Don't focus on the what ifs and think negatively. Instead, think of the many women who have been in your shoes come out just fine....happy even! The audacity!

    Congratulations!!

  • We will also have 3under3.  It's rather crazy to think of.  My oldest will turn 3 about 1 month after the new baby arrives.  I'm guessing she won' be potty trained.

  • I had three under three... and I'm pregnant with #4 (all boys) who will arrive 2 weeks after my oldest turns 4.  It's fine, seriously.   My boys now entertain each other and you get into a groove really quickly.  You'll love it and the kids are so lucky they will have each other as they get older.  Congratulations, enjoy it!

PS Three in diapers was not a big deal... just line them up assembly line style! ;)

  • Yes, you will live through three in diapers! And for what it is worth we were struggling with potty training DS throughout my pregnancy with DD2....but after her arrival something clicked and he has been accident free! DD1 has even started to express some interest in potty training but I have to admit that I would much rather have her in diapers as opposed to accidents.

  • Mine will be 2 years and 10 months and 15 months when the new one arrives. I am slightly less worried about this addition than last time. My two girls play really well together and entertain each other for the most part. Last time I was so concerned about jealously and her missing just mommy time. You will be fine. It sounds like our age gaps are the same. Dd1 was 26 months, and dd2 was 7 months when we got our bfp. Just relax and take a breath
