How long did it take to outgrow newborn clothes?

I was wondering because my son is 5 weeks and last week he was 7lbs 4 oz... yesterday he weighed 8lbs 8oz. He is 21 inches long. He still wears newborn sizes although the feet ones are somewhat becoming too short, he can still stretch..just another inch and he will need to switch to 0-3 months.

l want to buy some of those cool gowns for night time ( the ones with elastic bottom) but they are 0-6 month mostly and I dont want it falling off or him swimming in it.

My LO is just over a month old and almost 9 pounds.  I think we'll be moving to 0-3M this weekend.

Newborn lasted about 2 weeks. 

0-3 lasted until about 6 weeks then I moved her to 3-6month clothing.

She is now 9 weeks and is 23" (75th percentile for height) and 11lbs. She needed the 3-6 month clothes for length.  Her cloth diapers do add a bit of length to her torso as well...but even in a disposable she needed the 3-6 for most types of clothes.

Part of it is personal preference I can't stand snug clothes on me...so I move her up a size when it's looking snug by my standards.

Really hoping she can stay in the 3-6months for awhile though!

I stopped when LO hit 9 lbs at about a month old.  I think I could have pushed it a little longer but have SO much 0-3 and 3 months that I decided to move forward.  Plus it didn't look too comfortable for her..

DD1 fit into NB for 2 weeks. She was 9 lbs 14 oz and 22 3/4" then.

DD2 also fit into NB for approx 2 weeks. She was 9 lbs 4 oz and 21 3/4".

DD3 still fits into NB onesies now at 6 weeks. She's long and skinny, approx 23" and maybe 8 1/2 lbs. She's very close to outgrowing NB all together, and she's almost too long for 03month sleepers in some brands. We've been using those sleep gowns since she came home from the hospital, although I think ours are size 03months.

We were in NB for 8 weeks, but she was a little over 5 lbs at birth.

We skipped newborn size. DS was 9 lb 14 oz when he was born. The dr thought he was going to big so I had 3-6 mo in the closet from the beginning. I weighed DS on our bathroom scale yesterday and he is 15 lbs after last week's growth spurt. 0-3 months are start to squish his legs so we might move on to 3-6 pretty quickly.

My little guy never fit into his newborn clothes   He was born weighing almost 9.5 pounds.  He is 2 weeks old now and wearing 0-3.  I really hope he can wear 0-3 for a while before he moves on to 3-6!

DD is just growing out of NB at 6 weeks. If not for her cloth diapers, she could probably wear them a few more weeks. The gowns that are 0 to 6 months she SWIMS in still. She's just over 9 lbs

DD was in newborn 6 or 7 weeks and now is in 0 to 3 month clothes.. The pants are long but the rest for perfectly.. She's got my long torso and short legs..

The gowns won't fall off him; the collars are too small for that.  You can roll the sleeves up a bit if they are too long.

We were in NB clothes for maybe a month...but I made them stretch!

My LO is 8 weeks and just started wearing 0-3 last week.  A lot of them are too big still and only a few onesies in the NB size fit still.  We are at an awkward between sizes phase.

She can still wear nb tops but all the pants are too short (sadly 0-3 bottoms are pretty big in the waist on her).  She's 6 wks

3 weeks for us. It was definitely a length thing, she was 22 in at her 1 month appt. We have a bunch of those 0-6 gowns and love them. They're a little roomy but not falling off or anything.

About a month for this baby. My first DD was in NB stuff for 3 months. She was always a size behind what she "should" have been in. I think this one will be in 03 a little over 3 months, though.
