Swimmies or no?

Has anyone had any luck with those reusable/washable swimmies or should I just go with the standard disposable ones?

Re: Swimmies or no?

  • I actually just bought an iPlay swim diaper today so I'll be interested to see if anyone likes it!

I have reusable ones but I haven't used them yet.  But I also cloth diaper so it just made more senes to me.

  • yeah I definitely like the idea of the reusable ones and they just seem more economical so I'll probably get a few.

    We'll definitely use something reusable.

Is there a reason that using an unstuffed pocket wouldn't work?

This is what we use, but you need to be careful because using it in chemically treated water can cause damage to the PUL.  If you're just using it in a backyard pool it's fine though.  If you're going to use it in a real pool (or maybe in salt water?  I really don't know if that would cause a problem or not.) I would suggest you sacrifice a single diaper to the cause or use one that's already having PUL problems.  If you don't have a delaminated diaper or something like that you can often pick them up used super cheap or FFS.

    Just a heads up :)

i don't have any experience with reusables or cloth but at this age their poop is so runny that you need something wtih good 'leg hugging' abilities to hold it in! and also around their waist. no worries about pee it's just the fact that their poops are pretty unpredictable...and you don't want to be the mom running to the change room with poop pouring down your body while you hold LO up! LOL

our pool here had to be closed for a day while they cleaned it because a kid pooped in the pool!! how embarassing....

that didn't and still wo'nt with DS2 stop us from going...just keep a couple extras in the change room and check their diaper periodically in case you have to go back to the room to change them quick!

Awesome, thanks! I don't think we'll be swimming anywhere chlorinated so we should be good to go!

  • Absolutely reusable!  We did an unstuffed pocket but it tended to sag a lot.  We changed to a Bummis cover and that worked great.
