Potty training bootcamp

My son just turned 2 and has been asking ua if he can poop and pee on the potty. I am considering actually pot training but I have reservations. Is he old enough? D we stop using diapers at naps and bedtime etc? He is never dry after sleeping and poops 3 to 4 times a day but is very interested in the potty and has been loving the positive reinforcemt we have given him when he goes. i would love to do it over a wknd and have heard great thing about the bootcamp method... Any thoughts or adivce?

  • If you think he is ready and you are ready, you should try. If it doesn't work out, just try again in a few months. I used the 3 day potty training on babycenter and had great success. I still use diapers at night and don't see that changing anytime soon.

  • If he seems ready, which it sounds like he is, go for it!  Two weeks ago DD basically let us know she was ready.  I wasn't considering it for another few months because I just started up home-daycare last week, we have a new baby ourselves and she is moving to a new room and out of the crib in another month or so, it just seemed like too much.  But I also wasn't going to hold her back, so I turned it over to her.  We shopped for underwear and I told her when she was ready she could wear them.  The first day she wanted to wear them over her diaper, the second day without a diaper and we haven't looked back since.  We still do diapers at nap and bedtime, she is only dry when she wakes 50% of the time so we are not there yet.
  • Give it a try!  DS was 2 years 2 months and DD the same.  Go straight to undies.  If you want a diaper at nap and bedtime it's a fine way to start, too.  Just make sure they go before nap and immediately after and you might be surprised how fast he nap-trains.  Bedtime could be a different scenario.  Regardless - ditch the diapers and try it!  Good luck!
  • We also used the 3 day method.  DS was completely trained within the 3 days.  We nixed diapers completely.  We did the training in March and he did have accidents in the mornings.  He would wake up dry and not call for us, so we started waking him up like 30 minutes earlier to take him potty.  It worked!  He was dry.  Now he wakes up normally and yells for us to go potty.  He is completely trained and has minimal accidents.  And usually, they are from spraying -_-

the 3 day method was awesome!
