Recommend your umbrella stroller

We will be going to Florida over Memorial Day weekend and don't want to take our bigger Chicco stroller with us because we won't have room for anything else in the car if we do! I would like to find a low cost, high quality umbrella stroller that we can take with us instead. I have been doing a little research online, but want some first hand opinions. What umbrella stroller do you have and what do you like about it or not like about it?

Re: Recommend your umbrella stroller

  • We have a MacLaren.  It's not low-cost, but it's awesome.  It's super light, easy to fold and unfold, and you can push it with one hand.  We got the basic model, I think it was around $100.  I keep it in my car and it's our everyday stroller now.

  • We have the Chicco Liteway. I like that it can lay all the way back for diaper changes and naps on the go.

  • First years ignite. Great economical stroller, has lasted through many flights.
  • Just bought a used Chicco Liteway and I love it.  It has a large shade and reclines all the way back.  And it has a big enough opening for the bottom basket that I can get a large diaper bag in without a problem.

I got the $20 stroller at babies R us.

I flew with it and actually it's pretty good, it was cheap, folds up small and does the job.  I'd say that the things I might want in it, are already in my jogging stroller, e.g. basket below, adjustable height handles.

For travelling it was great and it was inexpensive, it even came with a sunshade which I left at home since I was travelling light.

I've taken it a bunch of places since I came home.  My jogging stroller is great for when I'm going somewhere with bumpy terrain, jogging,  or if my DH has to push the stroller as he is tall...but at 5'5" the cheapo stroller works fine for me.  I do have to say that there is only a 3 point harness versus a 5 point like in my jogging stroller, but it hasn't seemed to be an issue as of yet.

  • We have a MacLaren Triumph and its great! Not cheap but it's worth the cost. I can open it and fold it up with one hand and my foot. It's sturdy and has come on multiple trips flights with us, no damage. It currently lives in my car trunk, we use it whenever we go anywhere in the car.
