Babies: 0 - 3 Months

6.5 Weeks...only sleeps!

So this is DS#2- and I am pretty sure that DS#1 didn't sleep this much.  My little man sleeps from 8:30 p.m.- 8 a.m. getting up for 1-2 feedings- but he is back asleep before he finishes his bottle.  After his morning feeding- unless I am poking and prodding at him he sleeps3-4 hours, up for another bottle and maybe a little socialization- and back to sleep.  Today, he was awake for a total of 2 hours.  Put him on his tummy for tummy time, falls asleep.  Put him on his back on the floor falls asleep.  Hold him- out..I am sure you see the pattern.

Anyone else have a baby that is a super sleeper?  I am not complaining- but just doing a check.

  • DD2 was the same way up until she was 8 weeks old, then she started to get into a habit of actually waking up more and more. I wouldn't be too worried. Some babies love to sleep! Enjoy it!

DS is like this. He's slowly starting to be awake more and now his daytime naps have gone from 3-4 three hour naps to 1 three hour naps and a couple of one hour naps. He still sleeps well at night, only getting up once. I haven't complained once! In fact I'm almost complaining now because I can't get anything done and have a little relaxation time since he wants to be awake more, especially since he can't quite entertain himself for long.

  • DD is just like your LO except she does a longer wakeful stretch before bed (she generally sleeps for most of the day and night but is awake for a few hours in the evening).  DS was a pretty sleepy little guy back in the day but I don't think I remember him being this sleepy either.  I'm glad to hear we're not alone.  The pedi suggested waking her more often during the day but I just can't get behind that.  When she is awake, she's very alert, smiley, etc.  I feel like if she's sleeping it's because she's tired.

DS was like that around 6 weeks. Some days he just wanted to sleep. Now that h is 2 months old, he is more alert and is awake for longer stretches during the day before he takes his nap.

LOL! I am enjoying it...no worries there! With DS#2 just turning 2, I have plenty to do!  I just don't remember this much sleep! He is a bit more awake today- and just started to giggle, so it is all worth it!
