This is my 2nd pregnancy and I fortunately didn't have this problem with #1. So I started thinking today, b/c I'm so close to delivering, if I'd be able to have a vaginal birth with one. Anyone know?
I'm not sure I'm understanding either. Hemmroids are so common during pregnancy that if they prevented vaginal births there would be even more csections than there already are. I've never heard of them causing an increase chance of tearing. Did someone tell you this? If you have them there are things to help like stool softeners, sitz baths, tucks pads, and medication your OB/midwife can suggest/prescribe.
Seriously? Why would lumps around your bum hole keep a baby from coming out of your vagina?
Wow!! Snarky much? The question was a legit question. Because you can have severe tears that is why...thanks for response.
No, it really wasn't a legit question...one has nothing to do with the other. They are in two separate places, and the baby only comes out of one of those.
A vaginal birth can make them much worse. Some women are put on bed rest due to them. I don't know where you are getting your info about severe tears....I'm not even sure Dr. Google gives you that information.

Thank you. I'm aware that they are seperate places. I've given birth before. However, I have heard of people who have had serious tearing...3rd and 4th degree tearing. I was wondering how that would affect someone who had an external hemmroid. Obviously extremely painful. But more wondering if an OB ever suggested to not do a vaginal delivery. Perhaps I should of phrased the question differently, but it was a legit question.
I feel like, sometimes, people are unreasonably "snippy" on these forums. Not sure why. We are all women in the same boat...trying to do the best we can. In any case...I have a gf who was able to give birth vaginally, however, the hemorrhoids did make for a little bit longer of a recovery, as she had a tear that interfered with them. Hopefully, though, all will go smoothly and you won't need to experience that.....but, you should be able to deliver vaginally.
Yes, I do agree. Some boards are worse than others. I feel for your friend. That sounds horrible and very painful! I've had friends who have had them but they both ended up with c-sections- so unfortunately not too much advice there. Thanks!
You can with both internal and external hermeroids. I do not have external hermeroids, but I do have internal ones (yuck). My OB is not concerned but we have discussed tearing and episimoty issues as hemeroids can cause problems with both.
I have external hemmroids which my ob cut and drained yesterday. I am in so much pain and dreading what will happen during delivery! See if you can get a hydrocortozone cream prescribed now to shrink them...

I just read about someone having that done. You poor thing! Was it something your OB suggested for you to do or did you ask for it? I don't think I even have enough time to get the prescription, I'm ready any day now. Did your OB give you anything for it afterwards?
Yes, you can have a vaginal birth, I did... my roids GOT HUGE, the doctor had to push them back in!!! After I delivered.. I was in lots of pain for awhile until they got back to normal.. OUCHIE
Thank you for asking this question... Unfortunately I am now even more terrified of labour. I got TERRIBLE hemerrhoids last time and the recovery was awful. And I didn't have any beforehand.
I don't know the answer to the question but fwiw I thought it was a legit question and the snarkiness went a little overboard here. Yes it's two different places but you're putting pressure on both which is why it could be a legit concern for some women.

Any question is a "legit" question. I don't even know how you can have an un-legit (illegitimate? non-legit?) question.
I think the point was that the question lacked some basic common sense, lol. Of COURSE you can have a vaginal birth with hemorrhoids. That's like asking if you can have a vaginal birth even though you have dandruff. A question that makes sense would be: "Does giving birth vaginally make hemorrhoids worse?" or something like that.
And some of you are super-duper sensitive. If my best friend asked me that question I would probably have giggled and said something sarcastic to her like pp did. Then we would both laugh about it and move on.

Right on. I don't think the problem is that there are "snippy" people on here. The problem is that there are some that use these forums as their own personal google or yahoo answers. Pick up a book, talk to your doctor. Use your brain. Don't get mad when people point out that your question lacks common sense when it very clearly does. That's not the people who are responding to your question's fault. You know? Seriously. If you ask a question that is basic common sense then people can and will give you crap for it. There is no need to get butthurt.

agree. If you are already in pain, it is a concern...

ob pretty much suggested but gave me the option of cream instead. At first they referred me to a GI, they would not do anything bc I am preg. (Fear of rupture during delivery if cut?) so ob did it and She still gave me the hydro. cream to use now to help shrink it. Just call your ob and ask them to call to in for you asap! I might even ask about a c section bc of this situation. Also do baths and warm compresses.

Ummm, hate to burst your bubble, but your OB is not going to perform unnecessary surgery simply due to the state of your a$$hole...

I hate to burst your bubble..but actually yes she would. I am having a twin pregnancy and at this point I do have the option. Thank you though.

Yes, you are having a twin pregnancy, something that falls into the category of a "potentially medically necessary c section"...the state of your a$$hole still does not, lol!

Really ladies? This is very comical. I'm not "butthurt" but don't get the snarkiness that comes from people on here. Cleary I stated in one of my posts to a PP, that I probably should of phrased the question differently- not sure if you saw that or not- and clearly I should have. It was just question. what are you talking about?? Ob DID the surgery.
oh the c section, i thought you meant the hemmroidectomy. I am not sure ...you are probably correct on that but no need to be mean about it. I dont think you have any idea how much pain I am in and having a rupture during delivery will be horrible!

This is a really dumb question.
Your vagina has nothing to do with your anus. You should be able to push a baby out of your vagina even if you have hemmroids. JFC. The stupid. (>.<)
