Shaving down there

Are you supposed to shave everything down there before CS? I wanted to get waxed but now I don't have time before Thursday! What did y'all do, or nothing at all and just let the nurses shave it?

Re: Shaving down there

  • I waxed, but my OB suggested shaving before going in. She said they basically dry shave you, which isn't comfortable at all.

  • I did. But if. Remember correctly they did again anyway once I was numbed.

  • I shaved a little before but the nurse dry shaved me at the top before I went in to surgery. It was not a planned c/s and I was numb.

This. I had a full Brazilian about a week before so I only had barely a little fuzz but they shaved me anyway. I remember the two nurses discussing whether they needed to shave it or not and just going oh what the hell. Lol. But it was def after the epidural.

  • I didn't even think about it ahead of time.  The nurse shaved me after I had the epidural.

I've had c-sections at two different hospitals and was not shaved at either one, or at least very minimally (it's possible the upper part of the hairline right under the incision was shaved, but I'm not sure they even did that).  Ask what they're going to do before you do anything you wouldn't do otherwise.

  • I am going in Friday for my RCS and I will be trimming everything very closely tomorrow night and shaving around my incision line from last time so they don't have to at the hospital. Last time they used a disposable shaver and I would like to avoid that this time.

  • I didn't have a chance to prepare in advance due to an emergency c-section.  They came in before the section and shaved just the top inch of my pubic area where the incision was going.  I thought I would be mortified, but it took her about minute and the embarassment was over :)

  • The nurse did a dry shave just at the very top before I went down to the OR.  It didn't bother me at all.

  • I was trimmed, but not shaved, and they did not shave me. ETA: They cut through the hair too, it's not like they made the incision above the hair line.

  • If you don't, the nurses will do it.  Probably just the top portion closest to the incision.  I shaved before going in with my first.  The nurse said she didn't have to do anything.
  • They shaved below the incision. I was admitted into the hospital a few days before my surgery so I didn't do it myself.

  • Yeah they take clippers to your cooch. But they only do the top half, so now 2 weeks later I've got this weird bush thing. I wish I would've done something before hand. Haha. Now im too scared to do it myself, I'm gonna have to go get waxed.
  • I got waxed about 2-3 weeks prior (Brazilian) - I don't think that they shaved me at all during mine but I don't think I needed it.
