Ok, so I'm constantly battling MF stink. Sometimes my pockets themselves get a funk but not very often. It is usually the MF inserts. I have slightly hard water and have tried all kinds of detergent, varying amounts of detergent, soaking, calgon, oxyclean, washing soda, etc.
Current wash routine is warm rinse, hot wash with Tide just below the 1 with a full warm wash after with no detergent. I'm still having 1-4 inserts and a cover coming out stinky on average. I also wash every other day.
So, I'm thinking about ditching the MF and going with natural fibers. The Alva baby bamboo inserts are pretty cheap. Are they absorbent enough? How's the quality? Any other suggestions?
I use pockets for daycare and they are my nightmare. I have BSBs that I use at home and they NEVER, EVER stink. Same goes for my babykicks hemp inserts.
Re: MF Stink--switch to bamboo?
For a two year old, you'll need 2-3 3 layer Alva bamboo inserts in a daytime diaper. I'd probably do one folded up front and then another one behind that not folded.
You could also stuff with prefolds.
