Thinking of changing Dr

So long story short I was really excited when I found her, she was great and willing to answer any questions I have. But the past couple of visits she has just Refered me to specialist for what I feel are basic pregnancy symptoms restless leg syndrome, bladder infection the bladder infection was the biggest issue for me. My previous ob would have just treated me. I am 22 weeks and this is the first one I have had and she said I need to go see a specialist. When I asked why if it was abnormal she said no she just doesn't treat that. Is this odd? Or standard practice? I am looking for advise really considering finding a new ob but wouldn't even know where to begin being this far along

Re: Thinking of changing Dr

  • Well, the bladder infection I can see as a legit referral. Is the RLS a new thing? Just because something pops up while you are pregnant doesn't mean it is related or best treated by an OB.  If you really like and trust her, I'm not sure I'd switch it up this late in the game.

  • Getting referred to a specialist for a UTI is weird.  I would press for an explanation.  I think restless legs is a pregnancy thing.  I had it last time with M and I am starting to notice it again. I never brought it up to my OB though so I don't know if getting referred is normal.

  • That's definitely abnormal. My ob will treat bladder infections even when I'm not pg. I went today and she looked at a skin infection and is treating me for that too. I would switch.
