Baby Showers

Shower invites

So my mom is planning a shower for me and she decided to go with a lady bug theme. Which is fine with me.
But we are not finding out the gender of the baby so do you think we should put something on the invites so people don't assume it's a girl and get girl stuff? Something like baby's gender is a surprise?? I'm not sure what to do so any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks :

Re: Shower invites

  • Honestly, if I got an invitation that had a lady bug theme I would think "girl" immediately but I would call to find out for sure before I bought anything girlie.  I always buy off the registry but usually add something else that is not on the registry.

I wouldn't put anything on the invite though.  I did host a shower for a woman who did not find out the sex yet she wanted the shower after the baby was born.  Invites were all made out (except the date) and they were generic.  Once we knew the baby was a boy I purchased a stamp that said "It's a Boy" and stamped it all over the card...inside and out.  You could do the same (or something similar) with question marks...if you are really worried.

  • I guess I'm just not that clever. Ladybugs make me think spring, not girl. But I can see how someone else might draw that conclusion. Still, even then I don't think it is enough for someone to go out and buy sex-specific stuff without asking/confirming.
