Single Parents

Child support-single moms.

So I am not with my baby daddy anymore. havent been for a while. we have a son together mason who is 3 months old. he doesnt call or come see him at all. but he randomly called me to fix my car cuz he didnt want mason in a car that wasnt safe. and said he would pay for it all and that was nice of him. but my question is should i file for child support ?

Re: Child support-single moms.

  • You probably should.  and not knowing your financial situation, but if you ever need to apply for aid of any kind, they will make you file.  that's what happened with me, I never intended on going for child support, but I got to a point where I needed help, and it was either quit my job, go on welfare and get child support, or keep my job and get child support.

Hell yes.  Your child deserves that money even if you don't need it.  Put it in a bank account and save it for his college fund.
  • Not a bad idea, just in case. Make sure to report the cost of fixing your car, though, as a "gift."

I agree. This baby is his responsibility too. Even if you don't need it, save it for college

    Yes.

That money is support for your child, if you do not need it for everyday expenses then save it for LO's future.

    have to agree with this!

  • Just becarefull once you get child support payments he has the right to see the child. Just because he does not see his son now, does not mean he will not ask for vists. Am a single mom and have raised my daugher alone. Father only saw her  a few times a year. Then he gets married and took me to court for custody. He now gets to see her more per the court than before. Still does not call or ever write her. So just be careful what you ask/wish for.
