Last week I posted about my daughter not doing well with separation anxiety at daycare. She would get over my leaving, but then cry and not look at the kids when they arrived. (She arrives an hour before the other kids at our in-home daycare.) She would cry until the daycare provider just put her to bed. The daycare provider used to just stay on the other side of the room and let her cry because she thought DD was "just get over it."
So, Friday, I took the day off and spent the day with her at daycare to see if I could get her to interact with the other kids. I let her sit in front of me on the floor. I started playing with the other kids and the toys and before I knew it she was off playing and laughing with her friends. She just needs that little extra reassurance of someone she trusts close by before she starts playing.
So, today the daycare provider did the same technique with her and DD was off playing with her friends again!
I am sure we will have our ups and downs, but I feel so much better now that I know she isn't crying all day and instead having fun with her friends!
Thanks to everyone who gave advice!! I truly appreciate it! I was at my wits end...
