Finally

So after a long time I finally got a dr to send dd for allergy testing woohoo going today have to goto children's hospital she is very small 13 months and 15 lbs.   she's been on breathing treatments sinces 4 months.  Currently on oral pred again and now fluid sounding in her lungs no X-ray for now.  I'm hoping it tells us something she's on so much meds pulmicort, albuterol, singular, daily.   Drs are he sistent to test bc she's so young.  It's annoying. We go back Friday for results and a recheck make sure her lungs are better.   She's having a food panel I'm hoping there something I can change to help her.

I'm so sorry you're going through all that but good job at being persistant! May I ask what kind of allergies you are testing for? I swear up and down my DD has allergies but her doctor said kids can't develop them until around age 3. I have been to two different doctors and they both said the same. I disagree with this statement 100 percent, but I'm not a doctor. Hang in there, I hope you get the answers you need and deserve!

  • I'm taking DD to the naturopath tomorrow to have her tested.  She is completely covered with major eczema.  Face, neck, shoulders, arms, front and back of torso, legs, butt, diaper area.  All bright red and miserable.  She's torn her skin to shreds in a few places.  I took her to the pediatrician last week and he said "Well, diet can't really cause skin issues."  Really.  Really?  Bullsh*t.  I took DD1 to the naturopath and had the IGg test done and it showed sensitivity to gluten, dairy, egg and garlic.  We took her off it and her eczema was gone in 5 days.  Within 7 days her 4 times daily, violent temper tantrums had completely stopped.  In 8 weeks we've had maybe 2 tantrums and neither of them were violent.  I figure if the naturopath can shed some light on DD2's problem and guide me to fix it, great.  If not I'll go to an allergist.  I'm just frustrated with doctor's just trying to treat the symptom and ignore the problem.  Good luck to you.  It sucks watching our LOs suffer!

I hope you get to the bottom of it and that she feels better.

I feel you when it comes to the meds. DS was on several of those meds for quite some time. We had trouble with his weight as well. It's tough.

  • For her we test food panel it does 60 of most common then the the respiratory panel which is items like dust mite pet dander ragweed etc its a long list.  We should know in 2 weeks or less.  It's not true ask any allergist they are hesistent.  Her asthma or breathing issues 2nd time on oral pred in 12 months day 3 not improving quickly enough.  Female pedis who've  had  children seem to be better just push each time tell all symptoms. Also get informed before visit it helps.  Also dd is on 3 meds for asthma not improving.

I hope you get some answers from these test. I couldn't imagine what you and your dd are going through. Also, thank you for the advice and answering my question. I will keep on my dd's pedi. I personally believe kids that are our kids age can have allergies even though I have had 2 pediatricians say they can't. I can see that anytime my dd is around grass she instantly gets a runny nose, has a harder time breathing, and gets itchy watery eyes.
Good luck! I hope the test results come in quick so you can have answers and a game plan on how to get your poor daughter better!
