I am currently on maternity leave. Ive been pumping while breastfeeding to build up a stash for the last 12 days I have to return to work. Due to some post birth issues, I have to have outpatient surgery Tuesday and I cannot BF for three days ( day before, day of, and day after). My supply for returning to work is not huge and using it these 3 days will almost deplete it.
My question is, How bad for DD will it be if I gave her formula for 3 days and then returned to BFing?
Re: Breastfeeding question
That was worded completely wrong, My first daughter was on formula due to having supply issues. I have no problems with formula. I just want to make sure this was not a completely crazy idea I had.
ETA: I will be pumping and dumping for those three days due to the meds I have to take.
I think the biggest issue would be maybe some extra gas. Formula requires to digest so her tummy might be a little unsettled at first
I also had surgery, when DS was 10 months, and ended up stopping BF'ing completely at that point due to medication I had to stay on for a couple of weeks postsurgery. Once my BM stash was gone we switched to formula exclusively and again no problem.
You should be fine, don't stress about it too much and good luck with your procedure!
