what happens 2 hour before c-section

My doctor wants me to arrive at the hospital at 8 even though my c-section is not until 10 am. What exactly do they do during that 2 hour period? I have gestational diabetes if that makes a difference in procedure

They prep you for c section. They admit you to hospital ask those ridiculous questions.  Start iv send blood to lab.  If you have enough platlets they get epiduralcstarted and catheter in place.  Then you wait.  If doctor is ahead of schedule you might go before 10.

You will check-in, fill out paperwork, answer medical questions, change into a gown, probably get hooked up for a non-stress test to monitor LO's heartbeat, get an IV, meet with the anesthesiologist, possibly have some blood drawn if you haven't recently (to determine donor match if needed), and then you drink some anti-nausea medicine that is disgusting!  Oh and use the restroom if you need to! After that you will wheel/or walk the "green mile" to the OR to get the spinal,etc. Trust me, those two hours will fly!  Best wishes for a safe birth and speedy recovery!!

We had to be there 2 hours early and it takes that long to get everything set up/prepped.  Once you get there, you'll get changed, they'll place your IV, go over 1001 questions (even though they have the info, when it comes to anesthesia and surgery, there's no "too safe).

I sat in triage hooked up to the IV and the monitors. About 30 minutes before is when they started getting me prepped, drinking the nasty anti nausea drink and just waiting to be told it's time. Our families were in the room with us until right before.

ETA from the first response, they did not put my cath in until after the spinal was done in the OR.

This. The two hours are no big deal.
