Changing Bedrooms

I have a 4 bedroom house, 2 downstairs and 2 upstairs. My bedroom is downstairs and DD #1 is downstairs. DD #2 arrives in August and DD#1 will be 27months. Would you feel comfortable putting a 27month old upstairs in her own "new" bedroom ? Or does that seem to scary. I really don't want the girls to share rooms because DD#1 is a light sleeper and I'm afraid the baby will wake her up. What would you do? Obviously I would secure upstairs with gates and a video monitor.

If I could see her on the monitor, I'd be OK with it. While vacationing at my aunt's house, the gate stayed at the bottom of the staircase during the day to keep her from going up the stairs by herself. At night, I moved it to the top of the staircase so she couldn't come down the stairs. and FWIW, DS woke DD up for the first 2-3 days he was here, but after that DD sleeps through him now.

  • That's exactly what I was thinking of doing with the gates...I might even go as far as putting another gate by her bedroom door! Eventually I would love to have both children upstairs.
