We have one but my son is still way too short for it, he's about 33-34". I don't see it working for him until next summer when he's 3.5. Unfortunately it was a gift otherwise I would have researched brands that work for shorter kids, because I know they are out there.

Strider is one of the brands that fits shorter kids. My son's in the 15th percentile for height for his age and he was able to ride the Strider on his 2nd birthday.
My son's had his balance bike for about 4 months now and he doesn't get the concept of gliding, but he can get some good speed going on a straight-away. He loves it.
We got it at 18 mos, but she wasn't really interested in it. Now, at 2.5 yrs, she understands how to use it, but she is a bit of a scaredy cat, so she doesn't get on it very often.
