DD has 6 pairs that fit her right now. That probably isnt "normal" or average. She has one pair of sneakers, one pair of sandals, 2 pairs of mary janes, and 2 pairs of Toms. Her foot has not grown in 5 months so 3 pairs are from the winter and 3 new summer shoes.

He has 3 pairs of tennis shoes and 3 pairs of sandals/flip flops. We haven't tried the flip flops yet, though, so I'm not sure how often he will wear them.
My LO has 2 pairs of sneakers that fit right now and 2 pairs of sneakers in the next size up. He is a new walker so I'm trying to make sure he has plenty of support and protection rather than a shoe to match everything.
DS has 2 pairs of sandals and 2 pairs of tennis shoes that currently fit. Poor DD has such tiny feet she doesn't have any that will fit. I got her some 00 but they are huge too, lol.
DS has 3 - one every day pair for playing outside and getting dirty, one good pair of tennis shoes, and a pair of sandals. I may get him a pair of water shoes for summer.
DD has 3 also. Although I may get her a pair of dressier sandals since she likes to dress up. I am not a big shoe person.
DD has 5 pairs right now. 1 pair of sandals, 1 pair of dressy shoes and the rest are mary jane types. I'm a bit shoe crazy and like for her shoes to match her outfits
DS has 4 pairs that fit him right now. 2 pairs of flip flops, and 2 pairs of casual shoes
DS has just started walking so right now he has one good pair of Stride Rites. I have a pair of Stride Rite sandals one size up for ready for summer and I'll probably get him another pair of sneakers by then when he outgrows his current pair. So, for the summer, he'll probably end up with two pairs of shoes, maybe a third if we have any events that he needs something dressier than sneakers or sandals. In the fall and winter, he'll probably have a pair of sneakers, a pair of leather shoes, and boots for the snow. (If DS was a girl, it would probably be a whole other story and I'd be going nuts buying cute shoes! Boys shoes just aren't that cute.) :-)
My LO has 3 pairs of sneakers (blue, black and white), 2pairs of boat shoes (beige and brown), dressy shoes, 2pairs water shoes, flip flops, and sandals. So I guess the total is 9.
We have 3 that she wears on a regular basis depending on weather (tennis shoes, sandals, and water shoes) plus 1 nice pair for dress-up occasions (mary janes). That's it! Her feet grow pretty quickly so I don't want to invest in too many.
C has 4 pairs that currently fit, a pair of stride rite shoes for walking (this is her every day pair), a pair of espadrilles, a pair of mary janes and tennis shoes. Then a pair of tennis shoes and a pair of sandals in the next size up.
I think we have 3 or 4, though one pair is a set of rain boots and one's a pair of shoe socks thingies. I always just had one pair that fit him, but now that he carries them everywhere in the house, I need more than one so I can find two matching ones in a hurry. He actually needs another pair as his good pair of Stride Rites are getting pretty worn. That, and I bought them last summer (I bought ones that fit and one size up - these are the size up ones) and his foot changed from wide to regular. So, they're too wide.
ETA: Forgot one - he also has a pair of Crocs for water park play. I assume those fit. I bought them cheap on consignment (since I can easily wash them and they're not an everyday wear shoe), so I didn't try them on him.

Squeaker born 7/30.
My 1.5 year old currently has a pair of Keen sandals that fit. That's all. I would like to get her some dressier sandals to have as well.
My 3 year old has Keen sandals, tennis shoes, and some cheap leather sandals. I'd like to get her some nicer leather sandals.
I use to buy fairly cheap shoes for the girls and then they'd have multiple pairs. I decided to stop buying cheap shoes because they always look terrible after a couple of wears. I'd rather they have 1 or 2 pairs of good quality shoes that will last awhile.
4 pairs of shoes: 1 pair regular sneakers, 1 pair soft soled shoes for daycare, 1 pair sandals and 1 pair water shoes (required for daycare this summer).
LO's feet were growing so fast for the longest time he only had 1 pair of sneakers because I hated buying shoes he barely wore. Thankfully his growth has slowed down now and he's wearing everything longer.
My DD only has one pair of sneakers, she had two pairs of boots (but only one she wore regularly) for winter and then we got her sneakers and we're getting her a pair of sandals this weekend. I see no need for more than one of each.
Although, I will probably grab her a pair of water shoes for the beach/lake and she'll most likely have a pair of strappy sandals and a pair of flip flop style ones. To me, those all serve a different purpose. So 4 total for summer.
Proud babywearing, breastfeeding, vaccinating SAHM of 2U2!
DD has one pair of good stride rite sneakers that DH and I bought her. I love stride rite shoes. She has 2 pairs of sandals that other people bought her which she will wear occasionally but for everyday wear I like her in the stride rite.
I baby only needs one pair of really good shoes.

My DS only had one pair of shoes all winter (and snow boots). I buy him a high quality pair of Stride Rites or Pedipeds and that's all he gets until he outgrows them. This summer I will also get him a pair of Keens.
I would be really bad mom to a girl. I'm just not fashionable.
DD has two pair - sneakers and sandals. Her feet are growing so fast and she needs wide shoes so it is hard to justify buying more than two pair at a time.
my 17mo has one pair of stride rite sneakers. never thought to get him sandals since he already trips so much, just figured sneakers would get him through summer. also never thought to get him more than one pair, but maybe in case they get wet? he did have a pair of snow boots.
at ~$40/pair and the fact they last 2-3 months, it seems silly to get him multiple pairs in the same size.
My MIL is a shoe fiend so LO has at least 10 pairs that fit him right now. I wish I was joking. I attempt to live a simple life. Her thought is he needs a pair of grubby tennis shoes, nice tennis shoes, grubby shoes that can get wet, nice shoes that can get wet, rain boots, church shoes in brown, church shoes in black, loafers, sperrys, toms... I try not to sound ungrateful but the fact that she completely disregards my requests to stop buying him shoes (and other things) makes it harder. The funny thing is, he is EXTREMELY opinionated about his shoes and pretty much only wears one pair. So if I was buying them? He'd have 2 maybe 3 pairs.

Up until recently, he just had one pair - a good pair of Stride Rite casual shoes. I recently bought him some sandals, so that makes two pair.
The most I can see having for him is three pair - sandals, athletic shoes, and nicer shoes for church.

He has 1 pair of boots, 2 pairs of sneakers, and 1 pair of sandals.
I buy his shoes at Nordstrom so I usually don't buy more than one of each type.
DD1 has tennis shoes, casual mary janes for play, every day sandals, flip flops for the beach, and dressy mary janes for church. So 5 pair.
DD2 has tennis shoes, 2 pair of dressy mary janes, every day sandals, beach sandals, and a more casual pair of mary janes. So 6 pair.
I usually don't do more than 3-4 pair per size each season. We're straddling seasons right now, so they have more than usual in the rotation.

2: One pair of SR sneakers that he is growing out of, and one pair that he is growing into.
I also have a pair of sandals in the next size up that I expect that he will start wearing in a month or two.
