16 month old WHINING!

DS has been pretty whiney for a month now, he is also getting his cuspids and so I am sure this plays a part. However, I went to a waxing apt and was gone for 2 hrs, DH said he was great... when I walked in, all hell broke lose, wining, fits etc. WTF! Why does he whine more with me? I am a SAHM and am working with him to use his words, when whining for something I say "no, whining... what do you say?" and wait until he changes his "tone", so I don't feel like I give him everything he wants as soon as he whines...Any advice?

  • No advice, ds is the same exact way. Perfect with everyone else and as soon as he is with me he's crying and throwing tantrums! Hoping its just a quick phase!

  • Its a phase. DS is 2 1/2 and he was like that and now its fit throwing, toy throwinf and talking back and yelling no along with whining so yeah. Just keep consistent!

  • I don't think little ones that age understand "no whining" - they are barely verbal!

He whines with you because he feels the most safe with you.

Well he does change his tone (mostly) when I say it... so pretty sure he gets that he needs to respond in a different way when he is trying to ask for something!
