Third-Party Reproduction

Miracles Waiting???

OK has anyone used them?  If so how was it?  Anything anyone can tell me abut them.  Costs (real costs), how well everything was handled, protocall, and of course most important did you have any luck with the embryos...??????  From what I can see without paying for registration it looks pretty good. It is $150 to become a member.  But I have tried other similar sites and there were alot of hidden costs so I am always cautious.  Thanks

  • I have used them. Its $150 to pay for membership which allows you to talk to people. There were no hidden costs, that was it. But you will have to arrange legal and shipping costs all on your own because it's not managed by a third party.

We didn't have a lot of luck on miracles waiting but many couples do. It seemed that there are far more people searching for embryos than donating them. We also ran into a scammer which made me nervous about the whole thing. I hope you have a better experience! Good luck!

  • I already have worries about sites like these.  I know I paid for one and the company ended up wanting a $16,000 facilitation fee, another wanted an additional $4000, so you unerstand why I am nervous.  The other site you suggested showed me just how many people are using the FIRM.  That is the closest place to me anyway (2 and 1/2 hours away).  My hubby has kinda hit the lottery mindset.  He is not excited to try again, I know he loves and wants kids but just because the first one didnt work, does NOT mean the second one might not too.  I guess he has cold feet.  I know he hopes one day it will just happen, but I know that there is no chance of that.  The longer I wait the more I think he is going to move away from the idea.  And he was soooo excited the first go round.

We found our embryos (or better, they found us) from MiraclesWaiting. We were one of the few lucky ones who had a match within a week of setting up our profile, but this is certainly the exception to have a match this fast. Also, a lot of people who have embryos to donate do not actually post profiles (that is what happened in our situation), so it is hard to gauge just how many embryos are out there.

We obviously have had a great experience with it. It is certainly hit or miss. I have noticed a lot of the profiles there for embryos to donate have such extreme requirements as to what they want, it can be a bit of a turn-off. It always made me concerned if they were that controlling when it comes to choosing a couple to donate to (not that this should be taken lightly, mind you) that they would continue to try to be controlling after.

I definitely think it was worth the $150 as we would have spent far, far more than that for any other option as our clinic does not have an official donor program and the few that do get donated are only for those who have done multiple IVF's, donor eggs, etc and still have not had a successful pregnancy.
