Well Ladies, my baby girl is doing ok. She had a good night last night. They're really worried about her white blood count being so low. They checked it again this morning and it was even lower. It's tearing me up inside knowing she can't fight off infections. Has anybody been through this? Will the levels go up? Or down at times? I mean I had cancer and they worried about my blood count also, but I was so young I don't remember. Ladies thanks for all y'all thoughts and prayers!
Re: 24 weeker.
Prayers still coming Ellie's way!
Babies this young have a really hard time fighting infection. Did you ask them what the next step would be to help her WBC?
DDwas a 24 weeker and had several infections and, although I don't remember much about her WBC, she ended up with over a dozen transfusions.
my daughter is a 26 weeker and has had problems with her WBC also, and her hematocrit levels as well. She's had probably 5 or 6 transfusions because of it. I think its pretty common for them to do this. Her levels have gone up and down several times in the 12 weeks we've been in the NICU, but the transfusions really do help.
Praying for you guys - I know its rough.
