private track training

Hi,

Our agency offers private track training which could offer other opportunities to being matched and I was wondering if anyone has taken such a class? It costs about $300 so I'm not sure it's worth it. I believe it's about how to meet your own EM and agency fees would be lessened. Thanks for any input!

    Not sure what they could actually "teach" you that you cannot find in a book, so I am not sure it is worth paying for the class.  It is true if you self identify an EM, the agency fees will be less, did they tell you how much less?  Networking and advertising are the best ways to try to find an EM on your own.  There is online, traditional newspapers and word of mouth.  There are certain states that do not allow advertising and other's that require you to be working with a lawyer before they will place an ad, so you do need to know the different state laws.  Again, there are books on this.  The one book that is slightly outdated but I would recommend to learn about state laws is "The Ultimate Insider's Guide to Adoption" by Elizabeth Swire Falker.  I was able to borrow it from my local library.  Hope this helps.  GL.
